Students are back at WIU and Spoon River College.

We wish to encourage all people living near students to make an effort to introduce yourselves to them, and give them the "Tenant and Landlord Responsibilities" booklet available free at City Hall.

It is a good idea to get their names (and phone numbers) if at all possible. Ask them what cars will be parked in their driveways, and what type of traffic to expect at their residence during school and breaks. Let them know that you will help watch out for their property and safety, and that you hope they will return the favor.

It will make it easier for them to know you, feel safe, and feel like they to neighborhood...and it just might make them wish to be more neighborly in kind.
